I recognize that HV is constrained to only consider proposals from the Council as measured against the extant NDP but I feel we could make more of the likely impact of the proposed charges. The revunue anticiptaed will only be achieved if people’s parking habits don’t change. The amount expected to be raised is small when compared to the overall Council budget and would risk alienation of local people – both drivers who will be forced to pay or park elsewhere and to local residents who might be affected by the new parking pattern in adjacent roads. The overnight charge is ridiculously high without provision of facilities for camper vans and there seems to be no scheme or arrangements proposed for parking by local residents in an established residential area wher the vast majority have no off-street parking.
