In the light of WMBC taking control of Birkenhead Market from Birkenhead Markets Limited I have again asked the question whether the Market Charter will remain in force in some form.
If not, then there might be an opportunity for an entrepreneur to rent the empty co-op unit and use it for market trader stalls.
In this way we could encourage small scale traders eg butchers, fruit and veg, etc to take stallholder spaces at low cost. It could be fantastic and be a viable stop gap between now and a point in the future where a Town Square might be viable.
This would be a superb accompaniment to the emerging Beacon Project Arts Community, anchoring at two key points of Market Street.
