Correction: in their planning statement is says the existing Co-op building will be ‘marketed for lease to new tenants’ : “The existing Co-op store in the centre of the village will be available for a new retail or complementary town-centre use, either occupying the whole of the unit, or through subdivision, to allow for two or more smaller uses.”
In the context of HS3 ambitions, this is a concern. As it stands the existing Co-op unit would likely just stand empty for a long time? And any proposal of a buy out of the land to create a new Town Square development which would arguably need to be pinned around a competing anchor brand would not be favourable to them.
